Spring Surprise

My husband and I moved into our home last winter. I didn’t know what plants or trees were growing in our yard. When we first saw our yard, everything was cloaked in snow.

Two weeks ago, it was finally starting to feel like spring. I pulled open the bedroom blinds. My eyes widened. The small tree in front of the window was in bloom. It had hundreds of little white buds.

It rained for five or six days after that. The first day we had a break from the gray skies, I hurried outside.

The sun was warm and bright. The white buds appeared fluorescent in the daylight.

I took pictures from a distance and close up. I sat underneath the tree. The low-hanging branches dangled in front of me.

I spied a rustic barrel-like pot. Again, it’s a mystery what’s inside.

Today, the tree is mostly green. Only a few flowers remain. It still brings me joy. I wonder what beauty spring will bring next.

What plants are growing in your yard? Please feel free to share in the comments.
